Day 7 was a lot of driving and not much action, so we thought today would be a good day to tell you our thoughts.

The trip has been going great and we’ve had a great week. We’ve been having a blast and have been trying to live up to our hopes for the trip which is to help others along the way. And so far, we haven’t had many opportunities. We’ve attempted to help those on the side of the road, but they typically have it all under control. Everywhere we go we try to bring a positive attitude and cheer up those around us, and we’ve realized that searching for opportunities isn’t working for us. We have decided that we are going to keep our eyes open for opportunities instead of searching for it (which one wise woman advised us of). This allows us to wake up each morning and get excited about what may come our way. As well, since people on the side of the road don’t need much help, we’ll be bringing cold beverages to them just to give them a break from the heat.

We’ve been traveling through the middle states so we tend to see more over-sized grasshoppers and cornfields than we do people but that will be changing soon enough as we get closer to the East coast.

And now for Day 7:

Leaving Sturgis was difficult, but it was made easier when we went through the Badlands and took in the Grande Canyon-like views:

Today was a driving day and we stopped in Chamberlain, SD. It was a windy day and the riding was tough… and you know what was more tough? Putting up our tent. We have become an efficient team when setting up but this time it worked against us. After erecting the tent, we both turn around to grab the steaks and rainfly, and when we turn around, our tent is making a run for it and is making great time. We sprint at least a hundred feet and tackle it. We drag it back, and staked it down because of bad behavior. Yep, this was the most exciting part of our day…

Bad tent... bad.
